FCC bans exclusivity clauses in video service contract. On November 13, 2007, the FCC issued a release stating that it would ban enforcement of clauses in video service contracts that affect associations. Your association may be affected, and you may want to review the summary of the ruling published by the Community Associations Institute.

May's 2007 News
After appearing at multiple legislative hearings on behalf of the Legislative Action Committee if the Community Associations Institute, Randy Lipshutz co-authored a lead article in Georgia Commons that detailed changes in the Georgia Condominium Act effective July 1, 2007, and discussed other legislative bills held over for 2008.

Randall M. Lipshutz also testified, at multiple hearings and on multiple bills, in March 2007 at the Georgia Legislature on pending legislation affecting community associations. He appeared as a witness in the House Judiciary Committee on behalf of the Community Associations Institute - Legislative Action Committee (CAI) regarding amendments to the Georgia Condominium Act and the Georgia Property Owners Association Act. He testified on the Condominium Act revisions before the Senate Economic Development Committee as well. Randy testified against legislation that would have restricted an association’s ability to add leasing restrictions to its documents. He appeared twice before the Senate Special Judiciary Committee on legislation involving neighborhood associations. He was also actively involved for CAI in obtaining association friendly modifications to the original legislation.
